Shall we be afraid of Covid-19? 

Our life has been turned upside down for the last 6 months, Doctors and Scientists are not able to tell us when or if we can return to our routine days. It has been very difficult to reach accurate information as there is so many information on tv channels and on the internet. 

Even the doctors are separated in two groups: One group says this is normal seasonal flu only a bit stronger from the one which we used to, the other group says this is a very harmful virus and we have to take this virus seriously. Whom should we believe in as ordinary people? We don't know what's going on exactly. There are so many theories that the virus is human-made to there is no virus; it is all about for a bigger plan for the future.

One thing everybody is sure about is that every human being on the planet is affected negatively. People`s psychology is not good. Everybody tries to limit unnecessary activities, even some people they don't want to restrict their life but the society they live in they don't allow this. Some people are criticized because they are going shopping to the local market; some they stayed at home for months with no contact with no-one but still they caught covid-19. Some reckless people even throw parties to get infected in some countries. 

Allright, shall we afraid of Covid-19? How will we survive during corona days? Isn`t it torture living in the fear?

The Holy Book Qur`an tells us about the disasters that hit some societies in history. There is no doubt about Covid-19 is also a disaster that hit us in this century. This became our reality. There is no other way to deny or cover the truth that disaster hit us but admit this reality. Only in our country we lost more than 6000 people and 800.000 people all over the world. We are getting hurt day by day and there is one more thing we are sure about: the second wave is about to knock our door.

I will ask a question to you, is it possible to continue to live our lives while we are afraid of CoronaVirus, in another way is it healthy to try to live while we are in fear of something? 

When we read the related verses in the Holy book Qur`an we notice one thing for sure. When Allah sent disasters to a society, s/he always sent a door for escape for believers. 

During Nuh period, `Ship` was made and believers were taken in a secure place by that ship.

`Finally when Our Command came and the water from Al-Tannur (a particular oven marked as a starting point to warn Nuh in order to get him ready to board the ark) gushed forth! We said to Nuh: "Take into the Ark a pair from every species, your family - except those against whom the Word has already gone forth - and the believers and those who believed with him were only a few." (11/40)`

 

During Lut`s period the believers were taken out from the village just before it was destroyed. 

 

 

When Our Messengers (angels) came to Ibrahim (Abraham) with the good news (the birth of a son in his old age), they said: "We are to destroy the people of that township, for its people are indeed wrongdoers."

Ibrahim said: "But Lut is in there." The angels replied: "We know who is in there: we shall certainly save him and his family, except his wife, who will remain behind!"

And when Our Messengers (angels) came to Lut he became sad and anxious on their account, for he felt powerless to protect them. But they said "Do not fear nor grieve (we are the angels assigned for their torment): we shall save you and your family except your wife; she will be of those who will remain behind. 

 (29/31-33)

Conquering Mecca was not permitted because there was a risk the believer might have got hurt. 

`They are the ones who disbelieved and obstructed you from the Masjid-al-Haram (Sacred Mosque - Ka'bah) and prevented your offerings from reaching their destination. Had there not been believing men and believing women in the city of Makkah, whom you did not know, and their possibility of being trampled under your feet and thus incurred unwitting guilt on their account. Allah would have allowed you to fight, but He held back your hands, so that He may admit to His mercy whom He will. Had the believers stood apart from them, We would certainly have punished the disbelievers among them with  painful punishment` (48/25)

During Saleh`s prophet period  when the folk went too far, the believers were taken to a safe zone before disaster hit the folk.

`But, even after the warning, they hamstring her. So he said: "You have but three days to enjoy your But, even after the warning, they hamstring her. So he said: "You have but three days to enjoy your homes, that is a promise which will not be repudiated!"homes, that is a promise which will not be repudiated!"

When Our Judgement came to pass, We saved Saleh and those who believed with him, through a special grace from Us, from the disgrace of that Day. Indeed your Rabb is All-Strong, All-Mighty. (11/65-66)`

When we think about all the verses above we see definitely one thing. Our Creator saved the believers before the planned disaster hit the wrongdoing society. That is to say that we shouldnt be afraid of Covid-19 but not to be in the believers list. If we are in the believers list, no need to worry we will be saved inschallah. Allah created human beings and virus also is a part of universe, it was created by same creator. It can not hurt us unless there is a mission on him but as a part of big lesson it became our reality and we should protect ourselves and those we love. 

Covid-19 hit us, that is for sure but even if we consider ourselves in the believers list there is no ship made to save us or there is no secure zone we can move in as the virus is in everywhere. How do we feel secure as being believers? Has our God left us alone for covid disaster?

Surely, He it is Who originates the creation of everything, and He it is Who will repeat it on the Day of Resurrection. He is the Forgiving, the Loving,and the executor of His own will.

Our Creator The Loving, surely has opened several doors for us for salvation. The easiest and simple way for us to protect ourselves from virus disaster until a vaccine is found or Covid-19 has completed its mission is wearing masks + social distance + strong immune system + healthy foods + hygiene + pray. Health workers say these precautions today. In the old times Prophets used to warn people and today this task is carried by health workers. Seeing that we are not able to leave the places where the virus spreaded every piece of land in the world we can hide from it. Thinking I am saved and covid-19 will not affect me means I am ignoring the disaster conditions. Similar to behaviour during Noah Prophet times to refuse to get on the ship. When the waves arrived it would take you as nature of water or staying in the village during Lut Prophet`s time. When a catastrophe hits the village anyone who is in the village would get hurt inevitably.

However we can not say every person dead/get hurt by covid-19 is affected by disaster only. Maybe his time is up already and virus is only his excuse to leave the world. We can not make comment ongoings only God knows. Instead of living in fear; we will develop our awareness of both precautions and inwardly.

There is a time of death decided for everybody.

Term is defined time for something. Allah the almighty commands; 

We did not create the heavens and earth and what is between them except in truth and [for] a specified term... (46/3)

And s/He commands about humans;

`It is He who created you from clay and then decreed a term and a specified time [known] to Him; then [still] you are in dispute.` (6/2)

It is important that there are two terms mentioned for humans while there is only one term for skies and ground. One of them may be ` term-allowed` the same like other creatures have,  the other can be a natural term.  Natural term is endurance of the body. When the doctors examine the human they check this feature. Term-allowed is the period one can live upto. When endurance is up, humans become like a flower on its branch. Of course one who has 100 years endurance for the body might have term-allowed 60 years only. Only Allah the Almighty knows this term`. 

This world is a trial place for us; we are tested from time to time individually. Coronavirus is the test we are taking as a whole humanity.

“And We will surely test you with something of fear and hunger and a loss of wealth and lives and fruits, but give good tidings to the patient, (2/55)”

Coronavirus is no doubt a disaster, a catastrophe. It gives lessons to all of us. However we should not be afraid of the virus itself. It is allowed by the same God to function who created us But we should be afraid of not being in the list of believers. We will take a firm action, we will try to be a good person who does his/her duties and leave the rest of it to Allah and continue to live in peace and faith.

Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while Allah has not yet made evident those of you who fight in His cause and made evident those who are steadfast?

There is one more thing we should do as believers when disaster hits our lives. We should beg Allah to clear disaster away when troubles started to affect us.

Say, "Have you considered: if there came to you the punishment of Allah or there came to you the Hour - is it other than Allah you would invoke, if you should be truthful?" No, it is Him [alone] you would invoke, and He would remove that for which you invoked Him if He willed, and you would forget what you associate [with Him]. And We have already sent [messengers] to nations before you, [O Muhammad]; then We seized them with poverty and hardship that perhaps they might humble themselves [to Us].Then why, when Our punishment came to them, did they not humble themselves? But their hearts become hardened, and Satan made attractive to them that which they were doing.

So when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the doors of every [good] thing until, when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were [then] in despair. So the people that committed wrong were eliminated. And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds. (6-40/45)

The Holy book Qur`an timeless and it is for every era. Coronavirus hit us and gave us a lot of sorrow. Our another duty is to beg Allah to clear this sorrow from us. My Pray is: `i beg you my Creator, Please clear this disaster from me and humanity 

and send it back to where it came from. We learned our lessons, and we are begging you to return us to our safe days before the virus hit us.

Awaring of that our time is limited and we will live term-allowed properly in safety and faithfully. Please enable us to pass the virus test successfully, and when we come into the present You we wish to say we did thanks to You!

I beg you please remove this disaster and have mercy on us.

May Allah ease our test and grant big salvation.

“Allah has promised the believing men and believing women gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally, and pleasant dwellings in gardens of perpetual residence; but approval from Allah is greater. It is that which is the great attainment" (9/72)
